About the Author and Illustrator:

Illustrator: Alexis Dines
Katie grew up in Chesterton, just a short five-minute drive from the Indiana Dunes, and spent her entire childhood there. She was inspired to write a story about the Dunes after reading a children's book about Indiana University to her own children. She found her illustrator, Alexis, locally, and together they set out to bring the book to life. Katie is very proud of this story and hopes you love it too! She still lives in Northwest Indiana with her husband and two children.
Alexis, a native of Chesterton, finds endless inspiration in the Indiana Dunes. Her love for digital art led her to create A Day At The Dunes, a children’s book she’s incredibly proud of. She lives with her husband and two cats, Luna and Spice. In her free time, Alexis enjoys hiking, DIY projects, and photography.
